European Institute for Complexity Studies (EICS)
Partners:
- Project is in a planning stage; open to new participants
The Project:
The general goal of the EICS project is to create a roadmap and to prepare the establishment of a European Institute dedicated to education and research related to the field of complexity.
Such an institute would encompass all scientific (natural, exact and social) domains where complexity is an issue, such as physics, biology, economics, sociology, environment, computer science, etc. The main goal of the Institute would be to act as an internationally, both at the European level and world-wide, recognised institute for excellence in research and education programs related to complexity.
The main objectives of the Institute would be to gather information related to the subject of complexity, per domain and across domains, to realise transfer of competence among different domains and to promote interdisciplinary research.
Examples of concrete achievements of the Institute would be the production of technical papers, the establishment of interdisciplinary working groups, of research and education programmes - involving visiting researchers and students, the organisation of conferences, editing of book series, organisation of schools and seminars on complex systems and the establishment of an interdisciplinary European Master and PhD programnes in complexity.
Every institution, related to any domain, interested by the study or the issue of complexity could be a partner of the institute.
